Marathoning for the Mather!
Together, Hong and Mike are running the Boston Marathon! Mike teaches 5th grade, and Hong teaches K1 at the Mather Elementary School in Boston, Massachusetts. This is exciting to them for so many reasons, but most importantly because they can help fundraise for their students!
They are running on behalf of the Mather Elementary School in Dorchester, MA, with a focus towards raising money for field trips. Field trips provide our students with learning experiences outside of the classroom. They provide them with exposure to new environments, cultures and resources throughout the Greater Boston area. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, field trips are becoming more expensive and less accessible. As a result, our students are now lacking these opportunities.
From a different learning environment (a farm), to exploring a familiar topic in a new way (cultural communities of Boston), or introducing children to less accessible subjects (theater and arts), field trips are not only beneficial, but a necessity to one’s overall learning experience. Please help us make these educational dreams a reality!
