Amaurie's Blind Autistic Education

Donation protected

My name is Tracy, I'm the lucky mom to this handsome guy: Amaurie.  He's cheesing on one of our now many road trips back and forth to Baltimore from Ocean City, MD so he can get acquanted with his new school, MD School for the Blind.  Amaurie is considered legally blind (he sees light and shadows with his left and has no vision and a false eye in the right), Autistic, and has ADHD. I made a decision that public middle school was not going to be the best place for him to continue his education.  In public school he was left out of so much and so far behind all the other kids even though they did their best to teach him braille, use his cane, write with a brailler, use a talking calculator, and many other important basic skills.

Most people ask if Amaurie was born blind: The answer is yes.  I was told originally due to my kidney disease and severe endometriosis that I could never have kids.  Amaurie was born @ 26 weeks because I was extremely ill during my pregnancy with pneumonia and a kidney infection.  I actually had to be revived because I stopped breathing at one point.  I had 3 seizures on the night he was born and I was unconcsious during his birth.  When I finally woke from my induced coma, he had been taken to Johns Hopkins at 1lb 3oz.
He was hospitalized for 5 months , then had to have 7 different eye surgeries.  I eventually had to have a  hysterectomy and a kidney transplant (6 years ago my sister, Emilee was kind enough to give me her kidney).  I'm now in perfect health after 32 different procedures done under general anesthesia and Amaurie is perfectly healthy with his few minor quirks :)

Because MD School for the Blind is in Baltimore, 3 hours away from our home and my husband's job is here on the Eastern Shore, my son and I will be living in an apartment across the street from the school during the week and coming home to our family and friends on the weekend.  I have quit my secure banking job to become a full time Mary Kay Sales Director so I would have a little more freedom to be a part of my sons education and have the flexibility I would need to be able to drive back and forth home every week.  I have just started truly building my Mary Kay team and splitting our incomes to support 2 homes on top of travel has truly put a strain on our lives.  $3,500 is enough to help pay our Apartment rent for 3 months while we try to get ourselves situated for Amaurie to go to his new school.

We've had to make some huge sacrifices as a family, and separating from everyone we know. This transition will not be easy and I know I will need some help at first.  My husband, Jerry, and I thank you in advance for your love, prayers, and support.  If you would like to help me with my business by making a Mary Kay purchase, my website is www.marykay.com/tdavison . Amaurie thanks you for helping him get the best education!
