A first-of-its-kind Community Mental Health Center to open the doors in Uvira, South-Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of Congo, on December 16, 2016

The center will serve people with mental health disorders in eastern Congo, where various wars, crimes and sexual violence acts are contributing FACTORS TO A HIGH RATE OF MENTAL ILLNESS cases in the region. It is sad, but in Uvira and surrounding territories of Fizi and Walungu in Kamanyola, families continue to live in total ignorance that mental illness is a medical condition that can be effectively treated.
