Help Keep the Lights On

As many of you know, I have been disabled with spinal degeneration and neuralgia since October 2015. Since then, I have worked with an attorney to submit a disability claim through the Social Security Administration. I was on unemployment from November 2015-April 2016, but have had no income in the last 17 months.
My wife, Lisa, has been working to cover all of our living expenses since then, including our mortgage and utility bills and my doctor's appointments and medications. Thankfully, the two older vehicles we own are paid off. We live quite frugally, but even so find ourselves short on funds to cover our living expenses for the next two months. Lisa will be harvesting hogs and turkeys in November, and that income along with the income from her writing job will cover our expenses through the winter.
I attended my SSDI hearing yesterday in Austin. My lawyer believes I have a good chance of having my benefits approved, but it may take as long as 6 months to learn the outcome.
We have tried to get through all of this without asking for financial help, and I am embarassed to ask for that help now. I just don't know what else to do.
