Help Annie Clifford with Surgery & Recovery

Aloha friends and family!


I’m creating this campaign on behalf of my sister, Annie. As some of you may know, she has endured ongoing health issues over the past three years and, just recently, her condition has progressed to a precancerous stage. With high spirits and a heart full of hope, Annie will undergo surgery on August 28th to have a hysterectomy.


This unfortunate news came in the last few weeks. She had been in the hospital to have a tumor removed, when the doctors discovered several more. At the moment it’s contained, but without surgery the tumors can spread to other parts of her body. With the surgery being so soon and unexpected, Annie and her family are scrambling to raise funds for the surgery, loss of income, and childcare expenses as she will have an 8-week recovery time.


From ER visits to long-term care, medical expenses can quickly wipe out savings accounts and leave mounting debt that can last for years. Crowdfunding is nothing short of a miracle, helping people to overcome the financial burden of medical expenses to focus on healing. I just want to give Annie and her family that space to heal without weight of debt.


For those who don’t know Annie personally, she’s a loving mother to her vibrant 3 year old son Lux. You can often spot them running side-by-side early mornings or playing in the tide pools at Keawakapu Beach. She’s been friend/family/ohana to so many of us over the years and has an uncanny ability to light up the room with her contagious smile. Many of us have rolled our eyes at her corny jokes, laughed through one of her outrageous pranks, and been inspired by her free-spirited dancing. Her energy radiates positivity and brightens even the cloudiest of days.


I know Annie has struggled emotionally with sharing her trials with everyone - she likes to put on her superwoman cape and take on the world. Sometimes though, even the strongest people need a little extra help. Anyone who knows Annie well will recognize that it’s hardly in her nature to ask for that help. We also know, firsthand, how generous and giving she is to everyone she welcomes into her life. (Which is, let’s face it, everyone!)


So let’s come together to spread some ALOHA and take a load off Annie. Our friend and sister needs our support, thoughts, and prayers through this surgery and much needed recovery period. Any support is greatly appreciated; no amount is too small!
