Utopia Fitness Needs Your Support

Donation protected
Hi, my family, friends and members,

After months of hesitation with members’ and friends’ encouragement to ask for support, I decided to create GoFundMe. I want to share why I created it and why I need your support.

As some of you already know, I founded Utopia Fitness in March 2020. I have heard so many say, “Oh, wow, you couldn’t pick the worst timing” – I did not pick this time, the gym I worked at that time got run down and shut down before the pandemic hit. “I don’t know how you survived and kept the gym from not shutting down.” Tell you the truth, I don’t know either. I do know that owning a gym and making a positive impact on peoples’ health was my dream and my purpose for a very long time. I wasn’t going to give it up easily. After everyone was separated during the pandemic, I was more willful than ever to build community, bring people back together, and spread the awareness of how important being healthy is and having a social life, so why not connect with fitness minded people. I believe it is important to preserve our health and focus on disease prevention.

I will be forever grateful for all the support I received from the UF team, members, family, and friends. I managed to preserve the gym through the heat of the pandemic, built a successful gym that is now forced to relocate as it is being displaced due to the eminent domain as DOT is building the Great Wagon Road.

After receiving the call from DOT that I must relocate, my heart was broken, and it felt that my world was coming to an end. I couldn’t stand to be at the gym and see all the work I had done, all the money I had invested, and all the time I had put in. I cried every morning for a few months, so I would be able to keep myself together while I was at the gym. It has been over a year since I have received the news and until this day and while writing this message, I cry and still in disbelief that I must relocate. I kept hoping that the project would get cancelled or significantly delayed and I could keep my gym at the current location. It did not happen, the project continues.

So here it is, the information everyone has been waiting for. Utopia Fitness will be relocating, and it will be relocating soon. It will be staying in Lewisville and moving only 0.5 mile away to The Oaks at Lewisville shopping mall, next door to Food Lion and Alex Grill. Two units will be combined, and it will be located where Walgreens and Flawsome used to be. It will span 11,400 sq. ft. and in addition to newly renovated gym there will have a much nicer outdoor workout area as well.

I am committed to keeping the Utopia Fitness legacy going, but I could use your support as I am being forced to upfit (renovate) the new space and still working on recovering and paying tremendous expenses of the original gym’s upfit. The state will reimburse some of the expenses, but it is an anecdotal amount. A GoFundMe page has been created to help offset some of the cost that will be incurred in setting up the new and current spaces.

The plan and the goal are to be relocated by March, 2024. How ironic, exactly 4 years later. The plan is to move the equipment once the new space is fully renovated and we are hoping it will take less than a week to move, set it up, and open up the new location.

The intention is to make your experience at the new location everything you have come to expect and more!

Your support is greatly appreciated.

Much gratitude,
Daiva
