Dear Friends,
My husband Jim and I live in Maplewood, New Jersey. About a year ago, Zuhair Alsakadi came with his wife and children as a refugee fleeing the humanitarian crisis in Syria. His family now lives nearby in Elizabeth, New Jersey, his children attend school, and he and his wife are learning English as they work to establish a life in the United States. We became acquainted through our local Syria Supper Club when we hosted the family for supper on New Year's. Since then, we became friends and we now consider the Alsakadis like family.
The greatest difficulty faced by refugees in the U.S. is finding work to support their families. Zuhair had a thriving business as a builder and developer in Syria but lost his assets and his livelihood when he fled the country.
Zuhair needs an adequate used car to enable him to become an on-demand driver. The funds we are raising will cover the cost of purchasing a dependable used vehicle for Zuhair. Our target goal is to raise $3,000 by October 31st, and we're hoping you can help. Any amount would be wonderful--from $1 on up.

Our intention is to transfer the funds to Zuhair as cash when the campaign has earned enough to help with his purchase of a used car. I (Ellen) will be responsible for withdrawing the funds in my name and delivering them to the family, outside of Go Fund Me.
