USA National Team to China

Thank you Lord I made Team USA!!
After hubby's retirement from the US Army we decided to stay here. Looking for paddling clubs I found Dallas Outrigger Canoe club but it was too far then found out Austin outrigger canoe club was 1 hour drive from here so I started paddling with them. The paddling Ohana (family) grew big where I met the PHAM brothers, Tom & Everet (Houston) the Scioli's & Justin (Austin) the Mahelona's (Dallas) and Victorina, Irwin & the Kruse's (TOCC). From a outrigger world, all clubs formed a team (TORA) we rocked up to our first DB race in Austin and came home with a big Trophy. Couple of years ago Team Hokulele outrigger/DB club was born which I am blessed to be part of and as they say the rest is history.
From a recreational team we trained hard and became competitive. In 2014 we competed at the US Nationals in Chicago taking home a Bronze medal. It was a unreal racing experience. My team mate/close friend Sonna whose hubby our head Coach now saw something in me she would secretly bug me to go try out for the National Team. I was not sure but she believed in me and never stopped pushing me. So I gave it a go and made the Sen A women's crew and Sen A mixed crew. It's during this training period that I have been blessed to set a new World & American record for indoor rowing (500 m 1:24.7) on the erg Concept2 machine.
TEAM USA... Wow the name alone gives one goose bumps. It's an honor and a privilege to be selected to represent the United States of America in the 2017 IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championships from Oct 18-22. We will be racing against top paddlers from all over the World in China and every single part of this trip and this process is self funded.
The money raised for this trip will go to camp expenses in San Fransisco (airfare, hotel,etc), and travel expenses (the entire China trip alone is estimated to cost at least $3,000), as well as uniforms, and other misc. fees.

When it comes to big dreams, it clearly takes a village. A big thank you to EJK Boxing Zumba crew leaders Ms Issa, Ms Cobie, Partyhouse owner Ms April and the lovely friends and families who have helped send me to attend previous training camps.
Thanks to my team Hokulele for allowing me to be part of the team. Special thanks to our former coach Hau for his guidance, motivation and pushing me to go to my max ability. Special thanks to Sonna who believed in me. Special thanks to our Coach Hoang who has been awesome. Special thanks to hubby for allowing me to train @ EJKBoxing Fitness club.
