Did you know that Summit County is sending fourteen USSMA (United States Ski Mountaineering Association) National Team members to the ISMF (International Ski Mountaineering Federation) World Championships in Villars -Sur –Ollon, Switzerland on March 9-15th?

SKIMO, short for “ski mountaineering,” is a ski race discipline that combines endurance (skinning uphill), technical skills (boot packing, technical climbing, and transitions) and downhill skiing. The discipline is extremely popular in Europe (think Tour de France-sized crowds cheering competitors atop a 14er) and gaining huge momentum here in the United States.  In 2019 we have 14, and of those athletes, TEN are ages 15-17. Before you lies an exciting opportunity to be part of the momentum!

Basic travel expenses (flight +room/board for one week) = $1500 for each USA Skimo team athlete. This equates to $23,000 total to get Summit County members of Team USA across the pond to compete against the best in the world in the Sprint, Vertical, Individual, and Teams races.
