Urgent supplies for refugees in Ustron, Poland

Donation protected
We are a team of local dads who are giving up three days to drive 1000 miles across Europe to deliver essential supplies to Ukrainian refugees. We are driving 5 vans in convoy to Ustron in Poland, my family's  home town. The village is 200 miles from the Ukrainian border and has absorbed over 1500 refugees caught up in this humanitarian crisis. Local residents are housing these people, but supplies are very low. There are dire shortages of food, baby and sanitary products and other essentials. The region is overwhelmed and the distribution of supplies is struggling to cope. The village simply cannot support them.

Our mission is small, local and directly impacts a community struggling to assist these exhausted and terrified refugees. We leave Berkhamsted on 9th April and will cross at Calais. We need your urgent support to help us to fill our vans.

A few words from Stas and the team:

“My village is Ustrón - a small peaceful town of 15,000, 200 miles from the Ukraine border. The Russian invasion has caused hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians to flee, causing a humanitarian crisis. My cousin in Ustrón is a refugee coordinator. Last week we learned that the town had absorbed 1500 refugees already, mainly children and women who arrived in the early weeks of the war. They have also welcomed children from a Ukrainian orphanage who were forced to flee. They have come with nothing.

Local residents and the community are housing these people, but supplies are dangerously low, and there are dire shortages of food, sanitary products, nappies and other essentials. The region is overwhelmed . Shelves in local shops are empty. I have decided to act with friends and family from our local community on hearing this news. We are organising a convoy of 5 vans. We have volunteer drivers. We plan to drive 1000 miles across Europe in 24 hours to reach Ustrón.

We are delighted that businesses have generously donated all transportation costs, which means all funds raised will go directly to buying supplies.”

All aid will go directly to Ustrón in Poland and will be distributed by the local administration and their refugee coordinators. Any additional sponsorship will be donated to the town for use to support these and other refugees.

Businesses who have generously sponsored this effort: Bisley Office Equipment, Jelmac Property Group,  Tring Lions Club,  The Diamond Trust, Glencar Construction, Home and Abroad, Attic Storage.
