A year ago May 3rd 2019 my husband was going on a motorcycle ride with my dad. They hadn't gotten a mile from home when an antelope ran out of the brush across the road resulting in tragedy. Mike was able to avoid being wrapped up in the wreckage and called for help. Dad went to heaven 26 days later and it's just not the same without him. But we are reaching out for help for another reason. On the 26th of April 2020, seven days before the one year anniversary of the accident and seven days before we married something crazy happened. We passed someone pulling a trailer on the same road, and as we came back into our lane saw a small heard of antelope running down the road. He reacted by trying to slow down and honking the horn. The choice we faced was to swerve into the ditch, back into the other lane, slam on the breaks risking them coming through the windshield on impact or go over them. He told me to hold on because there was no way to avoid hitting a few of them, he hit the accelerator to raise the front of the truck and we went over the top of them. We were unharmed and the truck sustained little damage.
Small town rumors began to run rampant and nearly a month later my home was raided for evidence of poaching with some other bogus charges that somehow warranted invading our home, our rights and privacy.
There's more to this crazy story that will come to light at another time but until then we are battling to prove our innocence.
