Jeremiah was born October 2, 2017 to a beautiful family: mother Sheila, father Jerome, and a spunky big sister named Cataleya. He is a lively, sweet little boy who loves to play and explore, learn and grow. Jeremiah loves his family, especially cuddles and kisses from his big sister. And his loving family adores this beautiful little guy with all their hearts.
Reversing a little over a year. Jerome and Sheila were delighted to find out they were pregnant with a second child. The expectant couple had a Level 2 Ultrasound. When the ultrasound technician was concerned, she promptly called in the help of other nurses and the doctor. From there, they received a fetal echo of Jeremiah’s heart. It was determined that Jeremiah had a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD). Because of Jeremiah’s combination of defects, his CHD is classified as complex.
He has received many procedures and tests since the day he was born. October 14, 2017, Jeremiah had a shunt placed in his heart to increase blood flow and oxygen to his heart. This was a short-term fix for his large surgery.
April 1, 2018, Jeremiah’s health took an unexpected and unwanted turn. After undergoing his second heart surgery called the Glenn procedure at the UCLA Mattel Children’s hospital with issues related to heart failure. Jeremiah’s long and emotional procedure began to experience complications and is currently on life support. Doctors and medical team are not able to give any more medication because of his age and size. As we wait for any current information and improvements on Jeremiah, Jerome and Sheila would like family and friends to continue to keep them in prayer.
Jerome and Sheila are not the type of people who would ever ask for help, but if we could assist them with the countless expenses and financial burden during this time of need it would be greatly appreciated. As they will make Los Angeles, CA. their temporary residence as their heart warrior recovers or makes improvement.
