Unity College Tuition-Bachelor's in Marine Biology

Hi everyone,

My name is Tiffany.  Thank you for taking interest in my story.  I currently live in Warren, Michigan and graduated with my Associates in General Studies and summa cum laude from Macomb Community College in May of 2020.  I am also a member of Phi Theta Kappa due to my GPA at M.C.C. My goal was to move down to Florida to continue my studies, as I am looking to become a Marine Biologist/Aquatic Veterinarian.  I plan to graduate with a PhD or DVM.  I applied and was accepted to Barry University (Miami Shores, FL), Florida Atlantic University (Boca Raton, FL), and Jacksonville University (Jacksonville, FL).  These were my three top schools, out of state, that I wanted to attend; all of which I had planned to visit during the week of June 1st.  Sadly, I was unable to travel to Florida because of the pandemic.  I would love to have just signed up and gone to one of the schools this fall; but I wanted to get a feel for the campus before I spent all the time and money for travel and tuition.  A lot of the moves I make in my life are carefully and well thought out before I take the plunge.  Due to COVID-19, I was feeling discouraged because I wouldn't be able to attend one of the schools in Florida just yet.  Living in Michigan, I have found it hard to find a program that could give me a taste of anything marine science related.  I know that there is always a chance that I will start exploring the marine science field and realize that it isn't right for me; but I have wanted to do this since I was in elementary school.  I don't want to spend the rest of my life regretting that I never even tried.  I happened to come across an ad on Facebook for Unity College.  They offer may online degree programs and pride themselves in being "America's Environmental College" and as luck would have it, they offer a Bachelor's in Marine Biology and Sustainable Aquaculture.  I don' t want to fall behind in my studies and would love to keep moving forward, as opposed to waiting until I can travel to Florida to attend school.  I applied to Unity College and was accepted.  I start my first class October 5, 2020.  My adviser informed me that it would take about two years to complete my Bachelors.  I also want to try to get my Undergraduate Certificate in Pre-Veterinary and graduate school prerequisites done while attending Unity.

I was told that I only need 23 more credits for my bachelors; and I'm pretty sure that doesn't include the amount of time it would take for me to acquire my certificate

Estimate: Each class credit will cost about $470.  My first class that I signed up for is from October 5, 2020 - November 8, 2020 and it cost me $1,410.00 w/o books and other course material.  I plan on taking two classes next term (November 16, 2020 - December 20, 2020), assuming that both classes will cost the same as the first, I am looking at paying $2,820 next month.  I am asking for any donations you are able to give to help me achieve my goal.  I listed $3,000.00 as my goal to help cover the $0.30  donation fee and the 2.9% transaction fee that GoFundMe charges.

I would like to thank you in advance for helping me achieve my goals.  I really appreciate you taking the time to read my story and your consideration in helping pay for my education.

If this website allows, I will try to keep everyone updated on my progress as I move forward with my schooling.

Thank you again!
Tiffany
