Fresno Mass Shooting Victims Fund

On Sunday, November 17th, 2019, a mass shooting took place in Fresno, CA where 10 people were shot, 4 fatally, in the backyard of their home while enjoying a night of football. At least 4 young men’s families are grieving the deaths of: Hmong singer Xy Lee , 23; Phia Vang, 31; Kou Xiong, 38; and Kalaxang Thao, 40, with 6 others wounded due to a senseless act of violence. Two are currently stable in the hospital.
Xy Lee was a famous Hmong singer with nearly 100,000 YouTube subscribers. Hmong singer Jay Vang is also a popular Hmong singer who is currently in recovery. This comes at a time when community members are supposed to be celebrating due to the coming of the new year.
Fresno Mass Shooting Victims Fund was created to provide peace and healing for the families during a time of suffering. The money will go directly to pay for medical expenses incurred and funeral costs.
These four gentlemen were well known members in their community. Our City is home to the second largest Hmong population in the nation.
Today we are asking you to stand with our Hmong community and honor their contributions by helping these families in a time of need.
This fund was created by Fresno City Councilmember Miguel Arias who will be working closely with The Fresno Center & Hmong community leaders to provide financial support to the victim's families.
