Unique Valdez - Car Accident Medical Expenses

Donation protected
On Saturday May 25th my niece Unique was in a terrible car accident with four other friends. Their vehicle was totaled when it slammed into a tree and was mangled beyond recognition. Unique and the other teens had to be extracted from the vehicle using the jaws of life. She was rushed to the hospital where she remains in stable, but critical condition. She has undergone a few procedures and every day has been a fight for her. She has been making slow progress, and regrettably, experiencing setbacks along the way as well.

About Unique
Unique, as her namesake suggests, is a truly unique individual. They say it takes a village to raise a child, well Unique single-handed build that village around her. She was raised by her Aunt Adriana and her grandparents. I say I’m her aunt, but I am really her aunt Adriana's cousin. We grew up together like sisters and Unique by default became my niece. But this case is not unique to me. Through her smile, kindness, quick wit, and self-deprecating humor Unique has a way of working her way into everyone’s heart. If there was another word to describe her it would be universal - as in she belongs to everyone. To the people she has touched, she isn’t just someone you know, she is your other daughter, your niece, your little sister, and your best friend.

Unique is a high school senior, who just 7 days prior to the accident attended her senior prom. She has been a member of the girls varsity softball team at her high school for the last 4 years, is a hard-working student, and is beloved by her teammates, coaches, classmates, vice principals, and teachers. Like every other senior she was looking forward to graduation in June and starting the next chapter of her life at Goldenwest College.

About this GoFundMe
Unique is still battling it out in the ICU for now and the road to recovery will be a long and expensive one. Between an extended ICU stay, surgeries, and the growing number of medical expenses we expect that my Aunt and Uncle (Unique’s grandparents) will be burdened with extremely high medical bills. I am starting this GoFundMe fundraiser in hopes to alleviate some of the financial burden that they are about to undertake. During this painful time, we just want for them to be able to focus solely on Unique, and not have to worry about the bills to come.

We would also like to point out that this is the only and official GoFundMe effort sanctioned by her grandparents and family.

Please help us spread the word about this effort by sharing this link on FB, IG, or email.

A Message from The Family
The family remains optimistic about Unique’s recovery. They are overwhelmed by the level of support and love they have received by Unique’s friends, coaches, teachers, and school administration. Their faith is strong and they are confident that the girl who never backs down from a fight, will keep on fighting. They would like to thank everyone for their prayers, kind texts, hospital visits, hot meals, and overall support. They ask that you keep the prayers coming and that you keep Unique in your thoughts.
