Unique Home for Girls Jalandhar
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Harjap Bhangal, Solicitor, TV Host, Broadcaster, and above all a parent. i try to use my platforms to keep the public updated as to laws and the happenings in the community and to raise awareness on taboo issues such as Domestic Violence, Mental Health, Grooming, Online safety, Visa abuse, Women empowerment, alcohol and drug abuse.
Many years ago whilst presenting a TV show i received a message from somebody called Rupinder asking if i knew about a charity called Unique Home in Jalandhar. I often go to India a few times a year and she asked me to check it out.
So on a visit with my friend Jag Chima whilst in Jalandhar i went to see this small home in Jalandhar. It was a life changing moment.
Essentially what we saw was a house where abandoned girl children were being raised by Bibi Parkash Kaur. These children raising from newborns to teenagers had ben abandoned by their birth parents and left to die in bins, on railway tracks, in wells, in jungles and forests. they had been rescued by Bibi Ji and were being brought up by her like a family. She receives no funding from the Govt and relies solely on donations. To say it left it a huge impression on me is an understatement. Whilst i was there i recorded footage and interviewed Bibi Ji with the intention of raising awareness of her good work in our community.
When i got back to the UK i invited Rupinder onto the TV show to talk about Unique Home. Since that day i have been involved in raising funds for the Home. I have hosted many fundraisers, often in the Midlands, raising funds for the Home, sent to them by UK Friends of Unique Home (run by UK based people).
This year is my 50th Birthday and people were asking me what i wanted for it. I replied that this year i don't want...i want to give...so i have organised a charity fundraiser to be held in West London on 25th April 2025 at Heston Hyde Hotel. All proceeds and profits will be going to Unique Home Jalandhar like all of the previous events.
Now the best way to support would be by buying tickets and tables in order to attend the event. However many people want to help but can't attend and so i am making this gofundme for those who want to help but can't attend.
An alternative way to donate is to actually go to the Home in Jalandhar and donate money in person. Can't beat that however not everybody can do that.
With your donations over the years the Home has managed to expand from a small house in Jalandhar to a big custom purpose built home in Jalandhar and now the Home needs to purchase more land in order to build a facility for abandoned disabled girls in Punjab. Details of this can be found on my reels on my instagram page.
So please help us out and if in India please go and pay Bibi ji and the girls a visit.
