Primeramente quiero agradecerles por dedicar unos minutos para saber de la historia de mi madre a traves de esta plataforma, con mucha fe y esperanza que puedan ayudarme.
Su nombre es Felipa Requena tiene 70 años de edad, es venezolana, esta jubilada del sistema de salud como Auxiliar de Laboratorio y es residente de Venezuela.
Yo Melania Castillo Requena tengo 7 años residiendo en Puerto Rico, salí de mi país Venezuela hace 11 años en busca de un mejor futuro como la mayoría de todos los compatriotas que emigran a diario, donde el salario mínimo es equivalente a menos de dos (US$ 2,00) por mes, la inflación superó la barrera del 17,000% mensual, aunado a la crisis humanitaria más dramática que haya sufrido algún país en nuestro continente, con una escasez de los medicamentos esenciales en más del 90% y un colapso en todas las instituciones públicas de salud.
Desde que estoy en Puerto Rico una vez al año traigo a mi mamá para realizarle sus pruebas rutinarias y comprarle los medicamentos que no consigue en Venezuela para su condición de Artritis Reumatoidea.
Este año mi mamá no ha estado bien de salud y en Venezuela con la crisis actual fue imposible que un médico la atendiera para sus pruebas rutinarias.
Actualmente se encuentra en Puerto Rico desde el pasado 14 de Abril del presente año, pasado un mes se agravaron los síntomas: pérdida de peso, inapetencia, debilidad generalizada, mareos, náuseas y vómitos. Por lo que comencé a realizarle pruebas de laboratorios de rutina para llevarla a un chequeo.
Comenzó a mejorar paulatinamente hasta el 23 de Junio que estabamos realizando un Rx de tórax, salimos del centro de imágenes a esperar que mi esposo nos recogiera cuando de repente comienza a recostarse de la pared y se desmaya quedando inconsciente, inmediatamente la llevamos a sala de emergencia mas cercana, la internista que la atiende diagnostica gastritis severa le indica tratamiento y la da de alta, pasado 3 días vuelve a desmayarse y a quedar inconsciente, nuevamente volvemos a la sala de emergencia porque definitivamente algo no estaba bien, en esta oportunidad los médicos deciden hacer más pruebas y estudios, se obtiene como hallazgos la elevación de las enzimas cardíacas y una fracción de eyección de 30% cuando nuestro corazón necesita un 60% para su funcionamiento adecuado. El internista y el cardiólogo en su visita a la habitación me indican que se debe hacer un cateterismo, estudio a través del cual se pasa un catéter mediante la arteria femoral o radial para visualizar las arterias del corazón y en efecto la arteria descendiente anterior estaba obstruida en un 80% por lo que requirió de una angioplastia para reparar la arteria colocando un stent. Este procedimiento se pudo realizar a pesar de no contar con un plan medico, han pasado 6 semanas desde que la dieron de alta y mi mamá continua presentando los mismos síntomas que al principio, ahora continua con pruebas diagnosticas en vista de intercurrir con alteración de los valores hematológicos y funcionalismo hepático, para ello necesita nuevos estudios y pruebas especiales diagnosticas de enfermedades hematológicas lo que ha hecho el incremento a nivel económico, la deuda con el hospital donde brindaron los servicios en Puerto Rico es de US$25,000 y realmente no cuento con los recursos económicos necesarios para saldar dicha deuda, motivo por el cual acudo a este medio para que me puedas ayudar bien sea con tu grano de arena, económico con el importe que puedas, difundiendo este mensaje para tener un mayor alcance y con tus oraciones.

Con un gran vacio y dolor en mi corazon les dejo saber que, lamentablemente el pasado 25 de agosto mi mamá falleció en el Centro Medico Universitario de Adultos de Puerto Rico. Agradezco a todas las personas que nos han apoyado y a aquellas que deseen aportar su granito de arena durante este duro proceso. Dios les bendiga abundantemente.
Mi esposo, Carlos Urrutia, hizo los arreglos con el hospital donde tenemos la cuenta pendiente por pagar y ha logrado acordar plan de pago por la deuda. El dinero que se reciba en esta campana se usara para ayudar a pagar esta cuenta.

Since I am in Puerto Rico, once a year I bring my mother to do her medical routine tests and buy the medicines that she does not get in Venezuela for her condition of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
This year my mother has not been in good health and in Venezuela, with the current crisis, it was impossible for a doctor to attend her and perform a basic medical routine tests.
She is currently in Puerto Rico with me, since April 14 of this year. After a month, her health get worse; weight loss, lack of appetite, generalized weakness, dizziness, nausea and vomiting. I continued looking for help, visiting doctor and performing advanced blood and physical tests.
Her condition began to gradually improve until June 23, after performing a chest X-ray, we left the center of images to wait for my husband to pick us up when suddenly she begins to lie on the wall and passes out unconscious, we took her to the emergency room, the internist who treats her, diagnoses severe gastritis, indicates the treatment and discharges her. After 3 days at home taking the medicines that were prescribe, she faints again and becomes unconscious, we went back to the emergency room because something was definitely not right, in this case the doctors decide to do more tests and studies, the studies revels an elevation of cardiac enzymes and an ejection fraction of 30%, when our heart needs 60% for its proper functioning.
The Internist and Cardiologist, on their visit to the room where my mom was, told me that a cardiac Catheterization should be done and probably a angioplasty. Cardiac Catheterization is a procedure where a catheter is passed through the femoral or radial artery to visualize the arteries of the heart.
During the procedure they found the anterior descending artery was obstructed in 80% and required an angioplasty to repair the artery. The procedure was perform despite her no have a medical plan.
6 weeks have passed since she was discharged from the hospital and my mother continues to present the same symptoms like the first day in the emergency room. We continue visiting Drs offices, performing additional tests in order to determinate the root cause of her abnormal hematological values and hepatic function. New especial diagnostic studies and tests needs to be done to diagnoses the hematological diseases. I have a debt with the hospital where my Mom got the Angioplasty here in Puerto Rico for US $ 25,000 and I really do not have the economic resources needed to pay off that debt, this is the reason why I create this campaign, so you can help me economically, donating any amount that you can, sharing this message to reach as many people as possible and most important, with your prayers.
