Uncle Big Chris Charity Hockey 2017

For the past five years the Uncle Big Chris Charity Hockey Classic has been raising money for causes that have touched our lives in some way. To date we have raised almost $15K for four worthy causes.
With the Glioblastoma diagnosis of Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie, the disease and its devastating effects were cast into the national conscious.
In 1998, Rhonda Gauthier’s Mom passed away from Glioblastoma and in July of this year, Kate Cooney was diagnosed with Glioblastoma. Kate is Vivian Ivany’s favourite teacher at A. Lorne Cassidy PS in Stittsville.
Glioblastoma is the most aggressive form of Cancer that begins in the brain. This is an inoperable brain tumor that is fast growing and usually doesn’t respond to regular cancer treatment.
Money raised for this year’s event will go to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research (https://sunnybrook.ca/foundation/) and the Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjak Fund (https://www.downiewenjack.ca/)
The UBC Hockey Classic will take place from 1:00 to 4:00 pm (TBC) on Saturday, December 30th, 2017, at the Memorial Centre in Kingston.
