Después de 1 año y 5 meses de tratamiento, varias fases de quimioterapias y una alentadora fase de mantenimiento, y a pocos meses de llegar a remisión, se me detectaron de nuevo células malignas en la médula. El Oncólogo nos ha confirmado que la leucemia está de vuelta, así que aquí vamos de nuevo.

Confiando en Dios, este lunes 27 de marzo de 2023 comenzamos un nuevo tratamiento de quimioterapias, más intensas que el tratamiento anterior. Este nuevo proceso nos llevará entre 4 y 6 meses, buscando limpiar de nuevo la médula, pues en paralelo al tratamiento iniciaremos las gestiones para un transplante de médula en el extranjero. El transplante requiere que mi médula esté limpia para poderse practicar, por eso la intensidad del nuevo tratamiento.

El otro milagro que buscamos es el donante de médula. Por consanguinidad, la primera candidata es Gaby mi hermana. Ya se le practicaron los exámenes médicos para evaluarle su salud y esperaremos cuando sea el momento de la prueba decisiva de compatibilidad. Si ella no llegara a ser compatible, le siguen mis papás y luego primos hermanos. Al agotar estas opciones, solo quedan los bancos de donantes de médula en el extranjero. Esperamos no llegar hasta esas instancias.

El camino será duro, pero confiamos que con su apoyo, será más sencillo de recorrer.

After 1 year and 5 months of treatment, several phases of chemotherapy, an encouraging follow-up phase, and just a few months before reaching remission, malignant cells were detected in my bone marrow again.

The oncologist has confirmed that the leukemia is back, so, here we go again.

With our trust placed in God, today, Monday March 27, 2023, we begin a new chemotherapy treatment, more intense than the previous ones.

This new process will take between 4 and 6 months, seeking to clean the bone marrow again, this treatment is required because, in parallel, we will start trying for a bone marrow transplant abroad. The transplant requires my marrow to be clean in order to be able to get it, hence the intensity of the new treatment.

The other miracle we are looking for is the bone marrow donor. By consanguinity, the first candidate is Gaby, my sister. She has already undergone medical tests to evaluate her health and we will wait when it is time for the decisive compatibility test. If she is not compatible, my parents will take the tests and then first cousins. Once we have exhausted these options, we will only have bone marrow donor banks abroad to tap into. We hope not to reach those instances.

The road will be hard, but we trust that with your support, the path will be easier.
