We are Impact Investing Group at the University of Michigan: a student organization that focuses on educating undergraduate students about impact investing with hands-on, practical experiences such as finance, consulting, and research opportunities in socially impactful fields.
We are currently building a micro finance fund to provide micro loans to entrepreneurs in the Michigan area who face capital barriers. We have recently partnered with Lake Trust Credit Union and the Michigan Business Connection to house our fund and are in the process of sourcing donations for future investments.
Donating to help start-up our fund will provide disadvantaged Michigan Entrepreneurs with another opportunity for financial assistance. Our fund is aiming to give assistance to people who face capital barriers. At the same time, it will provide young students an opportunity to witness first hand the power and social impact business can have.
Our initial goal is $1000 but we are hoping to well exceed that number and propel struggling Michigan entrepreneurs while teaching our own members that the intersection of finance and social impact is possible.
