Hello! My name is Arrington Evans and I have been given the opportunity to attend the Intensive Law and Trial Program at Stanford University in the summer of 2018. I was chosen by my school to attend this program because of my academic excellence and community service.
I have always wanted to go into the legal field to pursue a career as an attorney. This is definitely the biggest opportunity of my life, thus far, and I hope and pray with your help, that I will be able to attend.
Here is some information on the program:
The Intensive Law and Trial Program is a ten day program at Stanford Law School. At the program I will learn about the practice of law, legal rhetoric, and legal ethics taught by legal professionals along with Stanford Law School professors. I will learn about opening and closing statements, cross examination, and preparing cases. This will provide me with advanced knowledge in the legal field. At the program, I will also take part in a mock trial where I will get to argue a case in a courtroom where I will take on the role of an attorney.
The knowledge from legal professionals combined with the hands on experience should provide an overall fantastic learning experience.
I have wanted to become a lawyer for as long as I could remember. I love watching legal shows on television and in a way they have sparked my desire for this career and inspired me to be the best person and student I can be. As a student entering my Junior year in high school, I already am taking a college weighted class and I am planning to take more college weighted courses over the summmer and next year. I also am involved in Student Government, Key Club, Track and Field, Soccer, National Honor Society, SALC leadeship class, and my local church, giving back to my community through a variety of volunteer opportunities.
The funds will be used for the following costs:
Program attendance: $3995.00
Airfare to San Franscisco, CA: $500.00
Non-covered meals, transportation and any other costs: $250.00
