My friends and I from the Wellesley High School basketball team are raising money for 90 teenage basketball players ages 12 to 17 who have been evacuated without their parents from the bombed-out city of Kharkiv and other Ukrainian cities to the EU country of Latvia.
This money will cover all their basketball expenses so they can keep playing the sport they love during this tragic time.
I grew up in Latvia and my Latvian basketball coach, Janis, has taken in these refugees at his basketball academy in the Latvian countryside. He is allowing the boys to stay together and keep practicing and playing together as a team to provide Stability, Safety and Comfort for these traumatized kids the same age as us!
