Improve Renewable Energy for MALT & Community

Mountain Area Land Trust (MALT) is looking for your help!

 

MALT is a 501c3 organization whose mission is to save natural areas, streams and rivers, wildlife habitat, working ranches and historic lands as a legacy for future generations. MALT serves a 4,830 square mile service area including Jefferson, Park, Clear Creek, Boulder, Teller and Gilpin Counties.

 

In 2019 MALT acquired the land and assets of Sacramento Creek Ranch (SCR), a 71-acre property that includes an off-grid residence, barn, creek, wooded landscape, wetlands and nature trails just outside of Fairplay in Park County. SCR is a critical base of operations for MALT's conservation efforts in Park County. MALT has also opened the property and facility for recreation and public use by local schools, environmental organizations and universities for high-altitude scientific research.

 

Sacramento Creek Ranch was built in 2013 as an off-grid residence and education center, running entirely on renewable energy sources, including solar, geothermal and wind power.

 

Currently, the windmill at SCR needs a major repair. The windmill feeds energy into the grid and provides electricity not only to SCR, but to the entire community. The repairs will cost $25,000 and MALT has raised $12,500 to date with a match from a generous donor. We are seeking help from you, our committed land and water conservation supporters, to help us raise an additional $12,500. If we do not reach this goal by July 1, the match will be withdrawn.
