I was on Instagram one day when I got a message from the Instagram page @uganda_view_orphanage_school. The message explained that the kids at the orphanage loved my photos and wanted to FaceTime me and say hi, which absolutely melted my heart and I said of course! They have since sent me photos and videos singing my name, documenting their days, dancing and singing and making the best of their very unfortunate situation. These videos sparked a deep desire in me to help these kids. I learned these sweet, beautiful children were struggling with just the bare necessities - food, water, cooking essentials, medical care, beds, clothes… the list goes on. This has been such a wake up call for me to be even more grateful for what I have and understand how fortunate I am and how small the things I worry about truly are. I have been helping them slowly get some food, supplies and material to add to the empty unfinished land they live on.
Not only are these kids barely getting by through no fault of their own, they have a much bigger issue. The land they live on is on leased property in Jinja, Uganda. The owner of the land is ready and pushing to sell the property and would prefer that the Uganda View Orphanage and Primary School purchase the land to help make sure the school can stay in operation. However, the owner is struggling as well and needs to sell the land nonetheless. The land also needs serious work and proper materials to complete classrooms and sleeping quarters for the children.
In my effort to help, we are seeking to raise $35,000 to purchase the land on which the school is located as well as making the necessary construction on the land. By owning the property, these children can maintain their education, and those that are orphaned will have a solid home and healthcare. These children deserve a chance at life by having a proper place to live and get educated.
The Uganda View School has been fully vetted, is licensed and is properly registered in Uganda. This is a valid organization, these are amazing and humble children, and this is a very important cause.
