I have volunteered with Hand of Hope previously in Uganda and I am excited to serve once again with an organization that provides life-changing medical treatment, as well as hope and love in Jesus' name! From these experiences, I am especially excited to share with you that Hand of Hope stands out because of their commitment to partner and collaborate with area physicians, the local church, community leaders, and other mission organizations already living and working on the ground. The impact of our service is more than just a "band-aid" because, not only do people receive medical care from top professionals, but we also get the unique privilege to encourage and support the faithful work of the local church and other committed organizations.
We will again be partnering with Watoto - a holistic child care ministry birthed out of a local church in Kampala, Uganda. It was initiated as a response to the growing numbers of orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda. Watoto provides physical, educational, spiritual, and emotional care for these children. Currently, they are caring for approximately 1800 orphans in Watoto villages that are setup as family-based communities with homes, food, education, and career planning as these children mature into adults and become the future generation of Uganda.
I have had a burden for the country of Uganda for many years, as the Lord placed this country and its people on my heart. I will be joining the team as a non-medical volunteer, assisting with height/weight checks, registering & directing the flow of patients, as well as praying with individuals. It is an incredible privilege to sense God's call for the beautiful people of Uganda, and now to have the opportunity to return and serve them again in a very real tangible way.
The last (Hand of Hope) outreach to Uganda saw over 5,100 patients!! All 5,100 received treatment plus one or more prescriptions.... and over 3,400 people received the best prescription of all, accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior! I am excited to see even MORE lives changed... including mine, and those who contribute to this mission through resources and prayer.
Below is the budget detailing how the funds raised will be used:
Airfare: $1600 due 12/15/17 (EEk - that’s coming up fast!)
Hand of Hope (food/lodging/medical supplies): $1500
Update Vaccinations/Malaria Meds: $150
Evacuation Insurance: $100
Fundraising Costs: $250
Uganda visa: $100 due upon arrival in Uganda 1/19/2018
I am incredibly humbled and excited to have the opportunity to be used by God to bring necessary medical attention to the people of Uganda. It fills my heart with joy to bless these beautiful people beyond their physical needs... reaching out our human hands to hold their human hands... joining together as sisters and brothers in Christ... seeking the One who is Everything.... no matter the color of your skin, or the land you call home.
Thank you in advance, from the deepest places in my heart, for your generous support and prayers.
