In Honor of Melissa Costanzo

On the 7th of October, Melissa slipped free of the bonds that held her to this earth and soared free for the first time in 20 years.  We believe she left this world for a better place and that her soul is finally at peace.  She escaped the suffering and agony of the disease that ravaged both her body and mind.  Melissa suffered from addiction for most of her adult life.  A disease that brought much destruction, but never touched her kind and loving soul.  Today we grieve, feeling as if we lost her all over again and think about the woman she could have been.

We all grew up together and shared many “firsts.”  She was a best friend to many. She was smart, beautiful, creative, artistic, and had a goofy sense of humor.  She always made you smile and laugh.  We loved her then and we love her still.

Melissa is now one of the over 72,000 Americans who have lost their lives to drug overdose in the past year alone.  This disease of addiction should not be ignored.  We must be open and honest, fight back with compassion, be understanding and diligent in education and treatment.  That is why we are organizing this fundraiser.  To bring more awareness to this terrible disease.  To bring to light the most effective ways to support prevention education and treatment programs. 

We plan to make a donation in Melissa’s honor to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.  Please help us make a difference.
