Replace Stolen Camera Gear
Donation protected
Two weeks ago, someone stole my camera bag from my residence despite that it has CCTV and 24-hour security. All my camera gear and accessories were taken - a total value loss of $3,200. A police report was filed and the Forensic Criminal Unit dusted for fingerprints. Still, there is no guarantee the thief will be found or the gear recovered.
The stolen camera bag contained my Nikon d610 ($1,500), my Nikkor 24-120 mm lens ($1,100), 8 SD memory cards ($100), a LowePro Flipside backpack ($80), two batteries ($120), two chargers ($60), several filters ($100), earbuds, cleaners, and cords. All of it, gone.
I don't typically ask for help even when I need it most, but the truth is, I need help. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease a year ago and have gone into debt to treat my illness. I simply do not have the money to replace my camera gear and can't afford to take on any more debt. I don't own a car or a home or very many possessions. I choose to live in Southeast Asia where the cost of living is lower and I can afford childcare as a single mum. As a freelance photographer, I depend on my Nikon for work. It's more than my work, it's my passion, my creativity, my instrument.
If you know me, you know photography is my life. And if you don't, perhaps you can sympathize with my situation. I'm on my knees here, as humbling as that is. Any and all help is truly, deeply appreciated.
