Our family is reaching out in hopes you will kindly consider helping the Costa Family during their time of need (Rob, Michelle, Emerson, Jack, and Charlie).
Rob and Michelle have raised a beautiful family in every sense of the word. Emerson, their soon to be 8 year old daughter, is an animal loving, taco eating, Disney princess that loves to learn and use her imagination. Jack and Charlie, their 4 year old twin boys, are pure energy just like Dad. With backyard bike races, living room wrestling matches, dance parties, and their constant desire to see what they can get away with, there is never a dull moment in the Costa household.
After Rob having another long week of work running his construction business, he hosted a family birthday BBQ with Michelle on Saturday. You would think Rob would sleep in late and have a lazy Sunday...but that’s not Rob.
On Sunday, July 28th, Rob and his two older brothers brought their families to a track in Wareham to watch them enjoy their joint passion of riding dirt bikes.
With his Wife, children, Father, and relatives in the stands, Rob had a horrific crash. While Rob tried to catch his breath he came to the horrifying realization that he could not feel his legs. With his brothers by his side they were able to get first responders on scene immediately. Rob and Michelle were quickly med flighted to Boston Medical Center where Rob endured a 5 hour surgery to repair the broken disc in his back and spinal cord.
As Rob and his family anxiously awaited on Monday for the swelling to go down and receive an update on the outcome of the surgery, they were hit with the devastating news that Rob was paralyzed from the waist down.
Despite this unfathomable situation, Rob Costa has no quit. He always has and always will be the hardest worker in the room. Rob is a fitness addict that would always start his days with 5am workouts before heading to the job site for the day. In the age of binge watching tv and surfing the internet, Rob preferred to use his time renovating his home with the “next project” or competing in dirt bike races. However more than anything, Rob’s number one priority is family. Everything Rob and Michelle do is for their children. Giving Emerson, Jack, and Charlie the most magical childhood and raising them to possess their strong character are their only goals in life.
Rob is unbreakable. Even the day he learned his unfortunate fate, Rob was cracking jokes with loved ones and showing his contagious smile. Michelle is the family rock. Her commitment and love to not only her family but her students as well is unparalleled. While there is not one shred of doubt that Rob and Michelle will overcome the physical and mental challenges they are enduring and will encounter in the future, they need your help.
Aside from the obvious mental and physical pains they have to overcome, there is a tremendous financial burden that comes with an injury of this severity.
In their darkest time, we humbly and appreciatively ask for any monetary contributions you would be willing to donate to the Costa family. Funds raised during this campaign will go towards the ever growing medical expenses, rehab facility costs, and home modifications necessary to create a safe and functional environment for Rob once he makes his way through rehabilitation. As you can imagine, the costs will well exceed what we are trying to raise, but we are grateful for any amount of financial assistance you are able to provide.
