Fight for Lucas

Dear family and friends, my name is Robbie Engell (Josh and Scarlett’s brother-in-law), I am reaching out with a heavy heart and insufferable news within the Thoming family. As some of you may have already heard, Josh and Scarlett’s middle son, Lucas, was diagnosed with leukemia this past Saturday morning. The Thoming’s are obviously heartbroken as are the rest of their family and friends.

Lucas is and always has been the sweet, lovable boy who truly loves life. He’s friends with everyone he meets and has a heart of gold. For those of you who know Josh and Scar, you know that they’d give you the shirt off of their back in a heart beat. Josh, a local Firefighter, has dedicated his life to serve the community he lives in. And Scarlett, she’s an elementary school teacher with a passion for giving back and a dedication to her kids. We owe it to this home grown Fairfield family to rally together and make this as easy as possible for them.

As they embark on this difficult journey of treatment and recovery, we are rallying together as their supportive community to ease the financial burden. Both Josh and Scarlett are taking extended time away from work so they can be with Lucas through this difficult time. Your donation will not only allow them time away from work, but also assist with medical bills, travel/gas (to and from Children’s Hospital in Oakland from Fairfield), hotels, food/coffee and home updates to get their house ready and safe for Lucas’ difficult recovery outside of the hospital. While both parents continue to care for their children, I will get your donation directly to the Thoming’s while ensuring their home is ready for Luke’s return. Their everyday expenses can quickly become overwhelming and we want them to focus all their energy on Lucas’ fight and their two other beautiful children fighting alongside them.

Your support, whether it be through donations, prayers or simply spreading the word means the world to us. Every contribution no matter how big or small will make a difference in Luke’s fight against cancer.

Luke is a fighter, there isn’t a doubt in our mind that he is going to crush this horrible disease. With that being said, please allow the Thoming family their privacy so they can spend every ounce of energy they have on Luke and refrain from contacting them until they are ready.
