Brave. The dictionary defines it as someone who is “ready to face and endure danger or pain; showing courage”…I would define it with the name of my friends sweet baby girl-Danica.

Danica was diagnosed with Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (AT/RT) at 21 months of age. She's been through unimaginable battles. 23 surgeries, six months of chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, radiation, medevacs from Alaska, unconscious commercial flights, meningitis, a bone graft, a skin graft,  a muscle graft, and so much more…

She is still fighting. Her parents Audrey and Matt are still fighting.

They are facing this fight with smiles, encouragement for others, comfort for those who need it, and faith that God is good.  In her own words Audrey has expressed her faithfulness and trust in God…“God has not been unkind to us: He gave us a tremendous gift: He gave us Danica, and he has kept adding days to her life. Regardless of our present sufferings, we have plenty to look forward to. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!”

They have been trying early phase clinical trials, and have signed up to try CAR-T cells out of their home hospital of Seattle Children’s.

With this opportunity to try a new treatment comes challenges…moving from their home to be close by to the Seattle Children’s Hospital for up to 6 months…This brings with it extra food costs, rent, transportation, homeschooling cots, plus maintaining their home away from Seattle. Due to Covid there has been a change in Matt’s working circumstances which adds a financial burden to most households, let alone one with a  child who has a brain tumor and 2 brothers at home who need things too.

We are all hopeful for a miracle and hopeful that the new treatment will increase Danica’s quality of life- help her to continue living life to the fullest-dancing, playing with her brothers, dreaming of being a princess, laughing with her family and friends.

If you are able to help the Taylor family with monetary donations we would be extremely thankful. If you are a praying person we would appreciate your prayers for strength, miracles, hope, and joy!

If you would like to keep up to date with Danica’s progress you can follow her Mom’s updates on Danica the Brave Facebook page. We so appreciate any help you can offer. https://www.facebook.com/danicathebrave
