hi! my name's elliott and i'm a 21 year old non-binary trans boy. my pronouns are they/them.
for a long time now i've wanted top surgery. i have known i'm trans for over two years and i suffer from a lot of dysphoria because of my chest. especially in spring and summer it becomes unbearable, as i find myself forced to wear more revealing clothes and not being able to wear a binder because of the heat. i've thought about it for a long time and have decided that top surgery is something that would really alleviate my dysphoria and make me feel a lot more comfortable in my body.
top surgery is available on the NHS in the UK, but there's a waiting list of two years to even get a referral, let alone the surgery itself. i looked into private treatment, and have found a private clinic in london which comes highly recommended. they offer top surgery at a cost of somewhere between £3700 and £9700, depending on the circumstances. i have contacted them for a more specific estimate but have not received a response yet. i have started saving up from modelling work, but i don't get enough regular work to save up anything close to this amount anytime soon. which is why i set up this gofundme, because i figured out that if every person who follows me on instagram donated £10 i would reach my goal.
if or when i hear back from the clinic, if they give me a more specific/lower estimate, i will lower the goal of this campaign. otherwise, if it turns out that the cost of the surgery will be less, i will be donating the leftover funds to the stonewall charity.
any little bit you can give helps and means the world to me! the sooner i can get top surgery the sooner i can breathe a bit more easily, figuratively and literally, as wearing binders, especially in warm weather, constricts my chest and at times worsens my anxiety.
i will post an update if i hear back from the clinic.
UPDATE: i have just heard back from the clinic re: a closer estimate of the cost. they said it would likely be around £6500, not including the cost of the referral appointment/s which would be £500-£1000. i have just updated my goal to reflect that.
