In the early morning hours on Tuesday September 18, 2018 our mom was on her way to work when she was struck by another driver; under the influence and in someone else’s car (without consent), when in opposing traffic, he crossed over into her lane and slammed into her door.
The collision itself was aggressive enough that officers and first responders were positive it was a fatality. By the grace of God our mom was alive and rushed to the Trauma unit at Abington Hospital where she will remain until she is stable enough to move into a rehab facility.
She has sustained countless injuries including a broken ankle and wrist (requiring multiple surgeries) utilizing plates and pins, lacerations across her head and face, injured ribs, a concussion, several sub hematomas (which thankfully have not progressed in size), massive internal bruising, subsequent vision issues, and loss of feeling in numerous parts of her face and head. Not to mention the psychological trauma she is enduring every day.
While the physical injuries are slowly healing this will be a long road to recovery. One with rehabilitation centers, doctors, and a new way of life leading to massive bills we want to help cover.
Our mom is our entire world and anyone who knows her knows she gives the love of a mother and friend to everyone she meets. She is the most beautiful and wonderful person anyone could ever hope to aspire to be inside and out.
She is not only a mother, but a wife, a grandmother, an aunt, a daughter, a sister, and a friend.
This has been a living nightmare for our entire family, but what’s important is we have our mom.
She’s given us so much in life we only hope to try and give her a little something back.
