World Scout Jamboree

Hi there! My name is Charlene. I am an explorer scout and young leader from Manchester, who, after a lengthy selection process, have been lucky enough to be granted the opportunity to attend the World Scout Jamboree 2019 in the USA. This event occurs every 4 years and involves scouts from across the globe coming together to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity. In order to represent Greater Manchester at this amazing event and, ultimately, change my life drastically for the better, I must fundraise £3,620. The Jamboree will allow me to experience my first visit to a country abroad, my first time on a plane, acquire great experiences to pass onto younger people once I become a scout leader, and the opportunity to meet new friends from across the globe. I have devoted most of my life to scouting and am overwhelmed with happiness at the opportunity that has been gifted to me. As with all UK contingent participants, some of my funds will go towards subsidising the costs for scouts from other areas of the world which might need a little more help, which I personally think is amazing!! I plan to also fundraise through car washes, bin painting, quiz nights, bake sales, gardening, hiking and much more. I will also be completing the 3 Peaks Challenge on the 4-5th August 2018, which entails climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales, being Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.
