Ty's Covid-19 Long Hauler Marathon

(UPDATED)

Ty Godwin like many others has a passion for running – in Ty’s case he’s all about running for someone else.  Over the past few years, Ty has brought much joy and love to Liam – a  young man  with special needs since birth.  Ty has shared his joy of competition and endurance by running marathons and triathlons with his running buddy Liam.  Ty is now in the midst of his toughest marathon ever – he’s a  Covid19 Long Hauler  .  Ty got sick in January of 2020 amidst travel to Europe, South Africa, Montreal, and Seattle.  At the time, few of us has had ever heard of the Coronavirus or Covid-19 –– swabs were months away from being available back home in Colorado.  After 70+ Dr. appointments, Doctors have little answers as to why a man in peak physical health can’t breath simply walking in the house or sometimes out of breath simply sitting on the couch.  Ty had a temperature of 100 degrees for 105 straight days. Today there are over 100,000 people who are classified as Covid-19 Long Haulers.  Ty like many others continue the fight – a fight that not only takes a human toll on the patient and family but a huge financial one as well.

Ty has documented his adventures with Liam and his own Covid-19 journey on his running blog called  Seeking Boston Marathon  – Ty’s fighting spirit is evident through his use of humor, while his pain can be seen in his art work   .  Ty's story has been covered by a number of national news outlets such as the  NBC Nightly News   and  Colorado Public Radio  .  Ty is not only fighting for his family and himself, he also wants to help solve this Covid puzzle for all of us.  Ty and his wife Phronsie are currently at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN  (as of the posting) and will be back-and-forth from Denver meeting with the experts of Mayo Clinic to further understand and hopefully help treat some of the damage his body has endured. Please join the fight and help us to support Ty by contributing to this endeavor.  Let's ensure that once again Ty has a podium finish.
