Typhoon Hagibis Relief

Donation protected

Typhoon Hagibis was a record-breaking storm and Emi Kegai's house is unfortunately an example of the damage that the typhoon did. Although the strong winds had done some damage, it was the flooding that destroyed everything. The flash flood caused the neighbourhood to be submerged in 1-meter deep water and she was in it for over 8 hours. The only thing she could do was to stack furniture up for her mother (87) to sit on to keep her dry and to keep her son (13) safe.

The house was destroyed. With extensive damage to the floors and walls of the old house, it would be considered too dangerous to live in again. The flood caused years of dirt to surface and destroy everything: furniture, appliances, electronics, school supplies, medical equipment, photo albums, documents, and so on. Even their car is a total loss.

Emi is the only present parent taking care of both her son and her mother in a small city in Japan. She works at a retirement home and is an extremely hard-working person. She is always offering help, but never expects anything back. But this typhoon has really taken its toll on her and she needs all the help she can get.

The insurance wasn’t able to cover many of their needs, which is why this GoFundMe was made in hopes that it can help put their lives back on track. Your kind donations will help Emi with short term expenses (food, accommodations, etc.) and also with their goal to return to a normal life. Any form of help is much appreciated, thank you.
