Tyler's Top Surgery

Hi everyone!

In case we haven't met, my name is Tyler (he/him) and I am currently a student at the University of North Texas, where I study Music Education. Today, I am seeking funds to be able to afford top surgery.

My journey as a trans man has been full of numerous moments of joy. I first came out among close friends in band as a scared fourteen year old, not quite sure of my place in the world. Since then I have found new confidence as I navigate my transition and own my transness. I've discovered an incredible queer community of close friends, that continues to uplift and affirm me. I have had the wonderful privilege of being on Testosterone for the last year and eight months, bringing much-desired masculine changes. I've experienced incredible highs through my voice drop and other gender euphoric moments. Above all else, I have found my voice rooted in vulnerability, authenticity, and advocacy, as I define masculinity in my own terms.

Yet, my transition is not quite complete. The inability to completely flatten my chest continues to weigh heavy on my heart, with gender dysphoria playing a prominent role in my daily routine. While chest binders are able to provide some much-needed relief and a sense of euphoria, my chest remains too large for complete flatness, which is an excruciating frustration. I have spent my entire working career (as a full time student) over the last five years saving as much money as possible to help afford this, but am still $3000 short of the approximately $7000 procedure.

Thus, I am currently seeking donations to help afford this procedure. I can't even begin to express how much it would mean to me for any donation amount, kind words, or boost that you may be able to provide (no matter how small you think it is!). I have had my initial consultation and plan to have the surgery on June 1st (pending final office confirmation), in time for my senior year of college. I dream of the day that I can wake-up with a flat chest, living fully and authentically as a positive trans role model in the classroom for my students and my community.
