So this GoFundMe is for my nephew Tyler Morris who is this brave little man who's had a tougher time than usual since being brought into this world. He was born with Spina Bifida which occurs when a developing baby's spinal cord fails to develop or close properly while in the womb. Symptoms can sometimes be seen on the skin above the spinal defect. They include an abnormal tuft of hair, a birthmark, or protruding spinal cord tissue.
When treatment is necessary, it's done through surgery to close the defect. Other treatments focus on managing complications. It's a rare defect with fewer than 200,000 US cases per year.
Unfortunately, These complications come with lots of nights spent in hospitals and lots and lots of medical expenses. To add insult to injury, the bills have far surpassed any aid that the state was willing to provide so now everything is being paid out of pocket by his parents. Noraliz is Tyler's mother who works from home because Tyler needs extra attention and Billy is Tyler's father and a houston firefighter and doesn't get to spend much time with his kids due to the demands of his job.
So by contributing, the money will help this family in a small way get some comfort under them by making it easier to stay on top of bills and keep food on the table for the small family of four. Tyler has been a brave little man and is always smiling regardless of the numerous tests and surgeries he's had to go through at such a young age.
My hopes for this GoFundMe is to relieve my sister and her family as much as possible. I've given lots of money myself already but the dents that I make are not that great in the grand scheme of things so I'm reaching out to the collective to see if we can help in a much larger way. I hope that you can open up and help in any way. $5 can be gas to take the kids to school. $10 can be grocery food for their dinner tonight. $100 can be any number of their bills to at least hit the minimum payment and get them to the next month.
