In Memoriam of Sharon Blackburn
On September 17, 2018, Sharon Blackburn passed away unexpectedly.
It is hard to rationalize how many lives were touched by Sharon Blackburn. Known to many as “Auntie Sharon” her unmatched charisma, determination, and passion for her community made her the energetic champion that many could rely on. For over 30 years Sharon worked to improve the quality of life for youth, their families and various communities in Los Angeles. She worked tirelessly to provide services to assist youth and underemployed adults prepare for and secure living wage jobs.
Sharon had fire and told you just what she thought. She stood strong in her faith and her service to God. She was an integral part of her family and believed that passing on family memories was important. She played a prominent role as the family historian and didn’t go many places without taking a picture.
With the help of loved ones, community members and others fortunate enough to have known Sharon Blackburn, we hope to cover the costs of her funeral expenses and establish a memorial in her name.
