Carole’s Medical Fund

Donation protected
Once again I humbly come to ask help paying my bills.  Over the last couple of years Carole and I have used up our home's equity and have maxed  out our credit cards.  We would not have made it through the last year without the generosity of Carole's brothers and sister.  Please share this post.  Carole has also been taken off her leave of absence with Total Wine & More - Total Wine was very supportive for a long while and we thank them - so we are now paying COBRA payments which tripled our insurance payments.

My wife, Carole, has stage 4 cancer.  She is currently in remission but is still on a chemo regiment and having regular CT scans and doctor visits.  At the beginning of Carole’s treatment, it was twice weekly trips to the hospital to control the fluid build-ups in her abdomen. Next was a major surgery for a hysterectomy and a colon resection followed nine days in the hospital, fortunately she did not have a colostomy. Carole has made it through the IV chemotherapy and is now on a two-week cycle of pill chemo along with a three-week cycle of IV angiogenesis inhibitors.

The last 36 months' medical bills has depleted our finical reserves.  As I look to entering a new year of deductibles and co-pays I am not sure of my ability to meet them. I am disabled and honorably discharged decorated veteran – not to be confused with a Disabled American Veteran. While Carole was able to work I became the house-husband, a comfortable and stable arrangement.  With neither of us able to keep a job we have become disparate for funds.

I was reluctant to start a GoFundMe site, but it was explained to me as giving others the opportunity
to help us as Carole and I have helped others all our lives.  Accepting help has always been hard for us but giving help has always been easy.  We have given our time to Scouting, both GSA and BSA, the Red Cross, at our church as youth leaders and later as Head Trustee of the Church and Chairwoman of the Board of Worship plus time helping Mother Nature with the Elizabeth River Project.  As an artist I readily gave my time to the Very Special Arts, aiding fellow artists in their installations, art galleries with remodeling and many non-profit performance groups.

Carole and I were, also, always willing to help others on the personal basis always stressing the concept of paying forward. Aiding our widowed neighbors, sharing our truck, van and trade skills, to repairing the homes of my fellow veterans readily comes to mind as a short list.

Please allow me to give you deep felt and humble thanks.
