Earl Wiseman Scholarship Fund

Earl Wiseman was a talented guitarist who lost his life on July 4, 2013.  Earl was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend.  In creating this scholarship, we are doing something positive to honor his love of music following his tragic death.  

The Earl Wiseman Guitarist Scholarship will provide financial help to a guitar student in the music program at California State University, Bakersfield.

Applicants will complete CSU's intensive scholarship application along with the following additional criteria we've requested:

Have a guitar focus to their studies

Provide two letters of reference

In their letter of intent, describe a moment when they said to themselves, "This is it.  This is why I chose to work towards being a guitarist."

Thank you note and update at the end of the school year

Our goal is $2000.  This will provide a two year scholarship of $1000 each year.

If we raise above our goal, we will donate the extra to the following areas of need at CSU, Bakersfield's music department:

Cordoba C7 Classical Guitar - students would be able to check this out to use during their studies outside of their own personal guitar

Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue Guitar Amplifier - guitar students would use this when playing in small groups or big band settings.
