Turning Cancer into Diamonds, a JH Story
Donation protected
Your friendly, neighborhood Jae Hyun/Je Hyeon here, hoping to get some help memorializing my boobs as a lab-made diamond. On December 26th I was diagnosed with Stage 0 Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS). I was already waiting for an appointment with a plastic surgeon about top surgery later this year, so the decision to have a double mastectomy was pretty easy. After genetic and tissue testing further plans for my care will be made but it's likely I'll not have radiation or chemotherapy. That said, let's get into the fun part: I would like to make a diamond with your help.
An internet pal, Katy Rex, mentioned to me that you can ask for your removed tissue (in my case boobs and nipples) to be cremated and then get it turned into something. This obviously seemed like the best way to honor them for their service and let them continue to shine long after I'm gone.
The cremation itself costs $295 and the diamond processing is just under $2000, I'm asking for a bit more to put aside for the eventual tattoos I'll get in place of nipples. Thanks for any help passing this around or with any donations.
