Probably safe to assume anyone at this page either knows me or heard the record so I'll speak freely and get to the point:
I have no money.
The record I just made belongs on vinyl, when I made the songs I heard them with the needle hissing and hovering above. I don't have a record label who would normally cough up a cushy advance to allow me to have vinyl in time for tour and pay them back later,, everything comes straight from these shallow pockets of mine and that can be a real pain in the ass when there's time constraints.
I'm going on tour for 18 dates starting February 3rd in Italy and Switzerland, and if it's one thing I learned on my last EU, it's vinyl or bust. I want them to think I'm fancy and that my shoes smell good.
The goal of 2 grand will cover only what I need to print 200 copies of "Caught It From the Rye", and I'm printing 200 copies this round to be able to afford giving a copy to anyone who donates $20 or more, so essentially, it's a pre-order and guarantees you an afterlife.
I'm doing the vinyl pressing through "Gotta Groove" and the break down is as follows:
The actual vinyl: $1,270 for 200 copies
The jacket the vinyl comes in (album cover): $495 for 200 copies
Polybags (plastic sleeve to keep the record safe): $40 for 200 sleeves
Test Cut (so I can make sure everything sound great before final press):
$40
A total of $1,845
Then there's shipping, which I may have to ship to me somewhere in Italy lest I'm short on time.
The whole process takes about a month to get the finished product and staying true to my precarious history as a career musician, I'm starting at a quarter stroke till midnight.
