As part of the Tulchan Summer Charity Challenge, if we raise at least £500 the Partners will generously donate an additional £5000!
Covid-19 has created many challenges around the World. At New Generation, their immediate preventative measures were to promote good hygiene and social distancing. The latter however is near impossible as all the children sleep with at least four other roommates. £7,200 USD (approx £5,500) will fund the rent for one extra house for a whole year.
New Generation is a charity Tulchan has donated to regularly for several years now. They are a nonprofit organisation in Burundim a small country that borders Tanzania, Rwanda and the DRC. This year it fell two places in the index to be named the poorest country in the world. The charity, New Generation, provides housing, food and education to Burundian street children – these kids are the poorest on the planet and without the charity’s work their lives would be unimaginably desperate and difficult. The charity is full to the brim with children that are happy and thriving.
In 2016 employees of Tulchan ran and took part in a number of fundraising events that raised over £100,000 for New Generation, which went a long way to allowing them to purchase their own premises in a quiet suburb of the capital, Bujumbura. Most recently, Tulchan has provided financial support to expand the site and begin the construction of new, modern facilities. This money has made a huge difference.
New Generation was founded and managed by an exceptional man named Dieudonné Nahimana. Dieudonné found himself on the streets after his father was murdered in the civil war in 1993, and has made it his life’s work to help children placed in such difficult situations through no fault of their own.
