Hola Mis Amigos, I hope this finds you and yours well. My heart is wide open and humbled to be sending this message. As many of you know I have spent the last 15 years gratefully following the mission and destiny my abuelita (grandmother) gifted me with as she was passing from this world to the next.
As she was passing she told me I would be a mensaje (a messenger) and would carry our culture (country music with chili peppers) to people all over the world. She said I would be (puente) a bridge sharing the beauty of what we have in common, the joy, the connection, the love through music. When she passed I mortgaged my house a few times and have spent every year stepping more and more into this calling. It has been humbling and such a gift to have to live hand to faith but knowing that I am being guided and supported by her and by so many of you who have crossed my path.
I was such an insecure woman and artist when I started and with so much love ,support, my passion to honor the gift I have been given and the love of the music I have gratefully made 6 albums and taken this music, our culture to 14 countries around the world just as my grandmother said I would. Each album has been a gift to make and share.
I am more excited than ever to share my new album " TULAROSA," an album of classic country songs that were recorded by mariachis from El Paso, San Antonio and Tularosa, NM. The album itself was a gift from a cowboy in New Mexico whose mother had passed days before. He wanted to do something powerful with some of his inheritance from his mother and felt this album was important to make to bring people together through music . He gifted us a small sum to get it started and the magic unfolded from there. He was an angel. Patterson and I came to NM where families brought food to feed us, the radio station (LA LUZ) put us up in a hotel and folks gave us gas cards and rooms to stay on the way to NM. Some beautiful folks gifted me the ability to finish, master and mix the record, do photo shoot, record two tracks in Spanish ( for my abuelita) and somehow someway from one miracle to another over two years this beautiful album, a bridge between cultures is ready to be given to the world. WOOOHOOO!
I am also beyond words humbled to share that I have been asked to be the voice and face for the " THE AMERICAN DREAM" " an immigrant story in song that is being recorded and brought to life by the Hermes Music Foundation that will be coming out this October. I am humbled as I know my abuelita must have seen this so many moons ago and that I have been prepared now as a mensaje ( messenger ) and a minister myself to share this story in song with the world along with Tularosa.
I am so honored to share that this album is the FIRST ALBUM of mine to be picked up by SONY MUSIC and SOUNDLY MUSIC for distribution. That means they believe it has the ability and value to connect with audiences all over the world and they believe in the story of this music.
The only issue at this moment is that I am the record label which means I am responsible to pay for the marketing, manufacturing and promotion of this album. If you have ever tried to market a product you must know how expensive it can be to pay for. Within one month I have to come up with the funds to pay for the mechanicals, cost of reproducing the CDS, publicist, mailings, promotion in Americana , UK, and Europe as well as cost for releases in 5 markets in the US. . I am so excited that it has been given the amazing opportunity to work with a company like SONY MUSIC and share this music all over the world and and yet I am humbled to say that I have maxed every credit card, mortgaged everything I can and truly do not have a way to do it myself. Believe me I would if I could but we live hand to faith. So, I have been praying and have come to the place of knowing I need to ask for help. This is so very hard for me to do as I wish I could do it on my own. Please know that it is in my heart always to use my music, my heart and my life to be of service. If you know me I hope you know this to be true.
And so it is in this moment that I humbly ask you if your heart is called in any way to help me bring this beautiful celebration of music and love to life. If you can offer prayers and or financial assistance of any kind I would so appreciate it. I truly believe that music more than anything else can open hearts and bring people together to be a bridge of love of what we have in common. I know this album is a gift of the angels and was meant to be shared at this time in our country at the same time as the " THE AMERICAN DREAM" " the immigrant story in song that will be coming out this fall. It is a true FIESTA PLATTER OF LOVE and celebration for people of all ages and from all walks of life. I can't wait for you to hear it.
