As most of you know I recently suffered 12+ strokes in various areas of the brain. The largest strokes were located in my opticital lobe, leaving me unable to see out of my right eye and only about half to three quartes vision in my left eye. While I am healing, this is a process and I wont be released to work until at least August 14 when I see the out-patient neurologist. Luckly I signed up for short term disaility when I was eligable for benefits at work; I applied and was granted short term disability, but at only 66.67% of my current wages. My wife and I have taken out all of the things we are able to live without but it still has made our budget super tight, struggling to afford anything beyond minimal groceres outside of bills. As the person who does our budget, I round everything to the nearest dollar or $5 (depending on the bill) to give room for taxes, rate changes, etc. We are poud people who would never usually ask for help in this manner, but we are concerned about being able to live and pay all our bills fo the next few weeks to months while this whole process comes to a close. Anything you would be willing to donate would be very helpful to us and will be used thirftly.
With the pay loss using short term disability we loose roughly $200 per week (pre-tax). If I get to go back after my follow-up appointment on August 14, we will have missed out on roughly $600 that I could have made if I was able to work.
