This is the official page for the 2018 Tricia L Seidenspinner Memorial Breast Cancer Benefit Ride/Hike - Hosted by Islip Horseman's Association. Event date is SUNDAY, OCT 14th, 2018 at Connetquot River State Park Preserve.
Tricia Seidenspinner was my best friend. We met at age 8 and had an enduring friendship through the years. 10 Years ago, Tricia was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. She faced her diagnosis with pragmatism, grace and acceptance. She educated herself on her disease and all the treatment options available to her, and lived her life fully throughout, passing away peacefully on May 28, 2016. She is survived by her four children and many loving friends and family members.
Tricia often told me that not enough attention was paid to those who have a terminal breast cancer diagnosis, and while it is important to recognize and celebrate the survivors of breast cancer, we must also provide support for those that have Stage 4 cancers, and provide options to elongate life and ensure a positive quality of life in doing so.
It is for that reason that I support SHARE NY Cancer Support. (EIN 133131914). This wonderful group provided assistance and support to those with all forms of Breast Cancer, as well as Ovarian Cancer, with attention paid to those with advanced diagnoses.
You can use this site to register for the ride. We have a minimum donation of $25 to participate. You can also use this link for your own fundraising efforts if you so choose.
Please include your name and the word "register" in your donation, so that I can keep track of you.
Don't forget we also have a wonderful gift basket auction at the event, so save some money for that!
NOTE: I will be holding these funds in my account and dispersing directly to SHARE NY after the event ends. This is because I could not set up a direct donation to the charity itself. This is how I have handled funding every year for the last decade. :)
