Tshering Tobgay - Kidney Transplant

I have created this fundraiser in support of my very dear and close friend Tshering Tobgay. I have had the privilege of knowing and working closely alongside Tshering for over 3 years. He is an incredibly humble, kind, caring and generous person, who is currently experiencing significant hardships.

Tshering was recently diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease and is now in kidney failure with less than 5% function. He urgently requires a kidney transplant in order to survive. Presently, Tshering is hospitalised at Royal Perth Hospital and is undergoing haemodialysis to assist with disease management in the meantime.

Tshering moved to Perth, Western Australia from Bhutan in 2018, to start a new life with his beloved wife, in the pursuit of his career goals. Tshering commenced tertiary study at Edith Cowan University (ECU), doing a Masters of Project Management. Unfortunately, his studies were cut short due to his chronic medical diagnosis, resulting in significant financial hardship. Tshering and his wife are currently on a Bridging Visa C - as for obvious reasons, he is unable to meet the health/medical eligibility criteria for Work Visa Rights. Although Tshering has invested in private health insurance, this merely covers his dialysis treatments and emergency hospital admissions, leaving significant out-of-pocket expenses. Tshering and his wife have exhausted their entire savings to cover medical treatments, procedures and surgeries, not currently covered by the Medicare Benefit Scheme (MBS).

As per the advice of doctors and specialists at Royal Perth Hospital, Tshering will incur out-of-pocket medical expenses (including a kidney transplant) exceeding $85,000 (AUD) with additional post-surgery treatments estimating $7,500 (AUD) per month.

Tshering and his wife are pleading for the generosity of family, friends and the general public, to donate and support him during his financial and medical hardships. Any contribution (big or small) will help support this loving couple, to receive the necessary medical treatments required for his survival. They are incredibly humbled and grateful for the communities continued support and generosity.
