With the kids being unable to go door-to-door this year, we’re going to bring a bit of Halloween to you.
Between 17:00-19:00 on Saturday 31st October, we will be bringing our mobile haunted house (a hopefully creepy-looking pick-up truck) around Sunderland South (Ryhope/Silksworth/East Herrington/Doxford).
We will be visiting a number of streets (all finalised - please don't ask for more as there's no more time), looking ghastly and with plenty of treats (in sealed pre-packaged packets, of course).
We will stop in the street long enough for a couple of pictures and for the kids to grab some treats as well.
We are teachers and NHS staff so all DBS-checked, will wear masks under our masks (if that makes sense), and will be constantly sanitising. We will keep our distance even for any photographs.
We don’t want any sort of payment; instead, we will have a donation bucket; whatever money is donated to us on the night, we will donate to Wearside Women in Need. Also, we will have a donation ‘basket’ for tins and non-perishables which will be given to the local food bank, on Coronation Street in Hendon.
On our Facebook page we have shared a 'shopping list' that the foodbank is in desperate need for. If you’d like to donate to the Foodbank beforehand, and we will collect it, you can take it along to Scotty’s barber shop in Silksworth who have kindly offered to help out.
We can't visit everyone - over 300 street names have been requested - but we can all help out. It would mean the world to so many if we could raise money together, to help people in our local community. Any money raised on GoFundMe will be split evenly between the two charities.
No money for costumes, sweets, decorations, props, petrol or anything else will be taken from the donations.
