Katherine Montoya Trivizo is a wife and mother of 3 and is local to Hondo and the Ruidoso area, currently residing in Las Cruces, NM.
Unfortunately, in late 2018, Katherine discovered multiple tumors in her breasts. Despite numerous lumpectomies, the tumors continued to return through the beginning of 2019. A lumpectomy is in itself, an extensive surgery to remove the tumor. Katherine had to have not one, but several of these surgeries and ultimately, in September of 2019, was forced to undergo a Double Mastectomy.
Following her double mastectomy, she began the reconstructive process. This entailed breast expanders being surgically inserted and then injected with sterilized saline every 2 weeks for expansion. She made it through the first and second processes successfully but following the procedure of the third expansion, she developed a incredibly life threatening infection. She had to undergo surgery again to get rid of it.
This was on November 5th of this year. She was able to go a few weeks before having to go to the ER another time for another infection this past week on Thanksgiving. She underwent her 8th surgery Wednesday, December 5th, this time having to have the expander removed. She will have to have this whole process redone at a later date when completely healed from these infections and surgeries.
During this time, Katherine has been unable to complete simple tasks we all take for granted, such as washing her own hair, cooking dinner for her family, picking up and holding her children and of course, returning to work full-time. Her husband and children, aged 11, 9 and 6 have stepped in and helped in any and every way they can.
Katherine has been able to return to work but only intermittently. The inability to return to work full-time has, of course, impacted her family financially. The stress of how to pay for medical bills, household bills and even groceries has become insurmountable. ...and all before Christmas.
Any and all donations will go directly to the Trivizo family in help with the mounting expenses. Donations will aid in this amazing family getting back on their feet while Katherine concentrates on HEALING.
