The Impact of Tristin Smith: A Letter To My Abuser

Hi everyone. My name is Lisa and I am one of Tristin's cousins. I originally organized this page to help the family with expenses, but with the attention her story has been receiving, the family has decided to do more. 

 Our healthcare system is broken. Female nurses are more than twice as likely to commit suicide the general population. The outpouring of people validating Tristin's words and sharing their own story only shows how broken the system is and how much it’s breaking the ones who pour their lives out so we can live ours. The system has lost sight of the humanity in an already difficult job to increase profit margins. Right now, California is the only state to have patient to staff ratio laws. This needs to end or we will continue to read stories similar to Tristin's again and again and again. Nurses are crying out for help, who’s listening? 

 This fundraiser will help the family continue to share Tristin's story in hopes that we can help as many people as possible and maybe, just maybe make a change for the better. We have been working tirelessly; emailing and sending out her letter, but we can do more. We can help make them listen if we just stand up together.
